Yesterday I took a nap around 3:00. And when I woke up, it happened. Already. I knew eventually it would, but just 3 days in? I thought I’d have at least a week or so. I woke up and had no clue what day it was. And it wasn’t like I just had that strange feeling for a couple seconds and then figured it out. It probably lasted a good 5 minutes. Long enough that when I went in the kitchen and saw the trash and recycling still sitting there, I was afraid we had missed trash day, which was today. I mean, I had to stand there in my stupor and stare at the trash trying to decide what day it was. Somehow I finally wrapped my sleep warped head around it all and figured out it was Sunday. But it was weird in my head for a little while. Ok, more weird than it usually is.
And good news – thankfully, Cross Fit had an 11:00am class that I was able to go to today so I was also able to go to the Freshman enrollment meeting. So first, Cross Fit. I was SO nervous. My stomach even had butterflies. But while the workout was hard, it wasn’t as hard as I built it up in my head. Of course I’m laying on the floor now typing with one finger because that’s the only thing on my body that I can move without it hurting. The next couple of days will be interesting for sure. (That’s not true. I’m fully upright and able to type just fine. Just don’t ask for anything off the top shelf in the kitchen.)
Freshman enrollment wasn’t actually too big of a deal after all. I mean, yeah, it’s a big deal that I have a kid old enough to be a Freshman, but this meeting wasn’t as much as I had hoped. Of course, Colten just really isn’t interested in much. He’s not into sports and he wasn’t interested in any of the clubs that they have. They need to start offering an XBox team/club. He would probably do that. What surprised me though was that he can take a Computer Technology class for one semester and the next semester take a Computer Programming class. In the programming class they learn how to program their own games. He didn’t want to do that. He has decided that he wants to do Woodworking though. That’s kind of cool. Adrian used to build cabinets and when Colten was little, we would go up to the shop to visit. He loved playing in the sawdust and pretending to hammer and such. So, maybe he’ll find his niche there. I don’t know how I ended up with a kid that doesn’t want to be involved in school things. I was on Swim Team and in choir, band, flag corp, drama club, German club, SADD… AND I was active in my church youth group and Teens for Christ, AND I took private vocal lessons. Where did this kid come from? How can he have no interest in doing anything besides gaming? It baffles my mind.
Keep your fingers crossed and prayers said for me tomorrow. I have an interview at 2pm for an Office Administrator position. It’s not too far from home, so that’s a plus. I think the pay is where I would like. We’ll have to see how it goes. One thing that was a plus in the listing is that this position also chairs the company entertainment committee. That’s perfect! I co-chaired the Activities Committee at my last job and loved it. That actually was one of my favorite parts of my job there. Being able to reach out to the other employees with fun things and morale boosters and whatnot really helped me feel like a part of a community, not just a work place. Loved it. So here’s hoping the rest works out too.
I’ll let you know!

I made the mistake of commenting on Jim’ s phone….the whole thing disappeared…it’snot signed up.
you would be perfect at this!! Hope they are smart enough to see this also!! You are the bubbly person they need to fill this position. Just remember to breathe and smile! Hey, computers and woodworking could work together really well for Colten. Hope the teachers he will have have the skills needed to motivate him!! Now for you…..you are a great mom. So many would skip the school meetings instead of working out a solution so you could go with him and boost his confidence!!! BRAVO!!!
Thanks!
